RALLY PREPARATION

Rally Preparation Services has built lots of rally and endurance cars, of many different makes and models: vintage, classic and modern. They reliably and successfully reach the end of the event they were prepared for – because the Rally Preparation Services team always follow the basic philosophy of “To Finish First, First You Must Finish”. That’s why exceptional durability is built into every vehicle prepared.

Appearance matters as well as performance

The experts at Rally Preparation Services also understand the need to work within the constraints of the specific event for which a vehicle is being prepared. The Peking to Paris Rally, for example, demands period-style preparation in keeping with the spirit of the event.

Before any work is started on a car, the team liaises closely with the owner to define needs and objectives, evaluate the vehicle and create an individual build plan around the scope and need of the required preparation. Each key element comes under close scrutiny, including the engine, transmission, suspension, wheels and tyres, fuel supply, roll cages, seating and harnesses, other safety equipment, navigation aids, lighting, and so on.

Beyond the technical issues, the skills of the Rally Preparation Services team lie in knowing how far to go. There’s often a trade-off between strengthening and performance, which is why a short-stage rally car needs to be less durable than a vehicle taking part in a lengthy endurance event. Both types of car need to be extremely tough, but RPS knows exactly what level of strengthening will suffice for every type of event.

When things go wrong, it’s often at the worst possible moment, and frequently because of the way the parts have been assembled. As rally crews as well as preparers, Rally Preparation Services is well aware, from personal experience, of the weak points and elements that are most susceptible to failure – and where they vary from car to car. It’s the RPS methodology that makes the critical difference, rather than the part itself. Workmanship with experience is vital, and the Rally Preparation Services technicians fully appreciate the importance of paying meticulous attention to every small detail.
